The Battle of Fort Sumter
The battle of Fort Sumter
was the start to the Civil War, which was the bloodiest war in the history
of the United States. The battle of Fort Sumter was between Major
Robert Anderson's forces and General P.G.T. Beauregard's forces. The
Union surrendered the fort after a 34 hour battle. No men were killed on
either side, except two in the surrendering parade, and they died because of a
gun explosion in the 100 gun salute. Major Robert Anderson later died in the
Civil War.
